Selling on Shopify in Bulgaria: Econt, office pickup and cash on delivery

A Shopify store built for Western Europe often stumbles in Bulgaria and Romania at the same place: delivery. Customers here expect to pick a courier office instead of typing a home address, and many prefer to pay the courier in cash when the parcel arrives. Shopify does neither out of the box.

What customers expect

• Delivery to a courier office (Econt, Speedy) as well as to an address.
• Cash on delivery as a payment option, next to cards.
• A tracking number the same day the order ships.

What the store owner needs

• An office picker in checkout, so the order already carries the right office.
• Waybills created on your own courier contract, not on a reseller's.
• Labels for many orders printed in one go.
• Orders fulfilled in Shopify with the tracking number, and marked as paid when the cash-on-delivery money arrives.

How to set it up

1. Sign a contract with the courier and get API access for your account.
2. Install a courier app for Shopify and connect it to that contract. Our own app for Econt is Shipline.
3. Turn on the office picker in checkout and add cash on delivery as a manual payment method.
4. Create one test order and follow it end to end: waybill, label, tracking, payout.
